Character History:
Fandom wiki page.

First and foremost, Nunnally is a princess, and one with a perceived duty to her nation's subjects despite being 87th in line for the throne. She chooses to take up the mantle of her late half-sister Euphemia upon her death. Eventually, Nunnally becomes a Viceroy and then the 100th Empress of the Holy Britannian Empire - but not by inheritance or birthright, rather by showcasing her prowess navigating politics and ambassadorship in times of great need.

Nunnally will remain blind, but be given back her ability to walk by BREW. Both handicaps she suffered after an incident seven years ago in which her mother, Marianne vi Britannia, was murdered and the dead woman fell on top of the seven-year-old girl. The trauma left Nunnally in her present state. She can read braille and is something of an artist, able to draw from memory things which she saw before becoming blind. Due to her loss of sight, Nunally's other senses have improved, namely her hearing but also her penchant for mimicry and speech. (She has been known to mimic the cry of a cat and give speeches to large crowds despite her infirmity.) More on this later.

The single most important person in Nunnally's life is her older brother, Lelouch. Both children were exiled from Britannia after Lelouch confronted the Emperor - their father, Charles zi Britannia - about the death of their mother. When the Emperor declared Nunnally to be weak, Lelouch got angry, but a 10-year-old Prince against the Emperor? No contest. For seven years thereafter - during which Britannia invaded Japan - Nunnally lived with Lelouch. At first, they stayed with Suzaku Kururugi's family, but as political prisoners on order from their father. They left during the invasion and went to Ashford Academy, where Nunnally attended school.

Despite attending the Ashford middle school, Nunnally became good friends with her brother's closest companions at the high school - namely the School Council - where she is treated as something like a cute little mascot. In the first season, Nunnally is a symbol for all that Lelouch does and not really ever in the midst of the action unless it is an episode focusing on Lelouch's life at school. When she appears on screen, it is often to give sympathy to the people in Lelouch's life whom he is close to, but has to do terrible things to in order to achieve his ends. Suzaku, Clovis, and Euphemia are among these, helping to highlight why the battles between Suzaku and "Zero" are so hard on Lelouch. Both Clovis and Euphemia are half-siblings of Nunnally's, and both die at Lelouch's hand as Zero, so Nunnally despises Zero for this and generally doesn't understand why Zero is doing all of the merciless things she hears about on TV. Euphemia is a very difficult sticking point for Nunnally because Lelouch accidentally ordered Euphemia to "kill all the Japanese people," meaning Euphemia's formerly kind-hearted and fond memory in the minds of the general public is erased - and Nunnally heard about it on the TV back home. The tragedy of Euphemia's naive optimism is a constant reminder of what could happen to Nunnally as we watch Lelouch cut each important person out of his life one by one in order to achieve his ultimate goal.

Nunnally's sense of humor is highlighted when she agrees to give a kiss to whomever catches a cat that stole "Zero's mask", even when it turns out to be both Suzaku and Lelouch - she kisses them on the cheek. Even as Lelouch creates and then bolsters his Black Knights right under Nunnally's nose, she never finds out, meaning she has very little contact with C.C. at all, thinking that C.C. is just another of Lelouch's friends from school. Other important figures from the first season include Shirley and Lloyd Asplund. Shirley Fenette, one of Lelouch's friends from school that Nunnally is acquainted with, nearly finds out about Lelouch being Zero several times and gets her memories erased as a result - yet it cannot erase the fondness that Shirley has for Lelouch. Lloyd Asplund is a character Nunnally has only ever heard about because he is engaged to Millay, but he is a brilliant scientist who serves to explain much of the advanced technology present throughout the series. As season one closes, Lelouch confronts another of their half-siblings, Cornelia, and she gives some clues as to the truth behind Marianne's murder.

Nunnally is a much more central figure in the second season. At first, everyone has forgotten about Nunnally and she has been replaced by the character Rolo, who in fact has pale brunette hair and purple eyes, very similar in appearance to Nunnally. We find out Rolo was a spy meant to keep watch over Lelouch and someone Nunnally never meets in the series. It turns out it was Emperor Charles who used his Geass on all of Ashford Academy - including Lelouch - to rewrite their memories and replace Nunnally with Rolo. V.V. took Nunnally away from the school at the end of Season 1 to accomplish this, then released her into the custody of Suzaku, so that she could be prepared for a public administration role - at her own request.

Nunnally is made the Viceroy of Area 11 at her predecessor dies - her eloquent speech, royal education, and non-threatening appearance have the potential to make her a highly respectable public figure. She starts to worry, however, when Lelouch tells her over the phone that they have to act like strangers. It shakes her trust in Suzaku as much as her brother. When Lelouch comes to rescue her under the guise of zero, she actually stands up to him rather than cowering in fear, telling him she believes what he's doing is wrong. Before they can finish their conversation as Viceroy and Rebellion Leader, they're separated in the battle by their own side's rescue parties. When Zero cries out her name, though, he doesn't use his voice scrambler, and so allows her to hear him sound like her brother.

She shows her newfound maturity by offering to work with Zero for the sake of the Japanese and the "Specially Administered Zone of Japan" which had been Euphemia's dream. Lelouch starts to believe that Nunnally can accomplish this on her own. So Zero does begin working with her and her attendants- Suzaku, Gino Weinberg, Anya Alstreim, Lloyd Apslund, Cécile Croomy, and Miss Lohmeyer. While Nunnally desires to change things, she also gets scolded for acting more like a "king" than a viceroy, a representative of the emperor; apparently she went off-script by suggesting the SAZ again. Unfortunately, Zero continues to make himself a symbol of rebellion at the SAZ's commencement ceremony, where Nunnally is speaking, against the humiliating second-class nature of the SAZ. The Black Knights do this by dressing up like Zero - all one-million of them - in order to escape and protect him; the authorities could have started a slaughter in search for the real Zero, but their own public image would have been ruined. Nunnally had to be escorted from the ceremony for her own safety by Anya - while Miss Lohmeyer "handled" the situation, a fact which left her a little worried and a little bitter. This was not the level of authority she desired.

We lose track of Nunnally as Lelouch leaves for China to try to gather support from the rest of the non-Brittanian world. Sayoko, Nunnally's maid, pretends to be Lelouch during this time so that he can continue his mission - it turns out her humble maid was actually a highly skilled ninja all along. Kallen gets captured during the battles in China and Nunnally goes to visit her in prison, but it is far from a happy reunion. Nunnally tries to recall fond memories of their school days together, but Kallen is too jaded and focused on the Rebellion to indulge Nunnally. This bittersweetness of the "normal" life at Ashford Academy (from season one and the first part of season two) that can no longer be is highlighted when Rolo discovers Shirley has regained her memories - in particular ones of Nunnally - and kills her. As Zero continues to rally other countries in the world to his side, Nunnally becomes a symbol again as Lelouch asks Suzaku to rescue her from Emperor Charles' attacks.

Unfortunately, in the midst of a battle where Rolo is seeking Nunnally to kill her under the premise of securing her for Lelouch, Suzaku's Geass command from Lelouch activates. In order to survive the battle, Suzaku activates F.L.E.I.A. - an air-to-surface mass-area "bomb" weapon. Rolo barely escapes the blast to tell Lelouch that Nunnally was killed by the attack, leaving Lelouch devastated. Lelouch has nothing left to fight for and so Zero becomes more ruthless than ever before, after an initial bout of depression. This is when Nunnally will be pulled into the game, though she does survive the attack canonically.

Character Personality:
Nunnally used to be a naive idealist. She was a quiet, helpful, non-confrontational young girl who sincerely wished for world peace. She took things at face value because she had to and was easily deceived. The aspect from this time she retains is that she sees the best in people even when they have done wrong, always offering redemption and forgiveness instead of punishment.

However, she becomes incredibly selfless - an odd trait for someone so dependent on others, but that is the proof of her capacity to love after being so loved for 14 years. She also is able to empathize with the plight of the "Elevens" (Japanese people) after living with them for 7 of those years. (Japan became Region 11 after Britannia's invasion.) Both siblings want the best for the other after going into hiding, but they have extremely different methods. For Lelouch, the ends justify the means, because it is only in that way that true peace can be attained; for Nunnally, the ends do not justify the means. She is willing to sacrifice herself for her ideas and ideals, but not others. She will also stand up for them, to people within and outside of her spheres of direct influence - examples of each being Miss Lohmeyer and Zero.

She is an eloquent speaker and all of her royal education comes across in her bearing. She is patient, kind, and listens better than most - partly out of necessity. It's important to her that she be able to touch people and objects, because it's all that can anchor her to the world. She is reluctant to judge people who will not let her touch them, but has to in order to make sense of the world. This is largely because of her mundane talents described below.

Some of her hobbies include painted / drawn art and paper-folding. She also equally enjoys attending and arranging parties, down to the choosing the service for the tables. Nunnally utilizes a phone often to communicate with her school friends, but does remember how to write and does so on occasion. Her Braille skills are enough to read at the same pace as one normally does with their eyes over letters. Her memory is also on par with one who has lost their sight, recalling textures and sounds with ease.

The sibling relationship between Lelouch and Nunnally is a very close one after all they've been through and especially because of Nunnally's dependance on her brother even for things as simple as getting around and eating, up until the past year. By the time she is 15, she has had a more mobile electric chair for a year and started to do more for herself on a daily basis. Both Nunnally and Lelouch have many half-siblings, but they share the same mother, who had no other children. The two of them were trying to escape their father all these years, wishing for a peaceful world, but Nunnally chooses to work within the system to that end while Lelouch (privately) rejects it entirely. She has not yet learned that her brother is Zero at the time I am pulling her from, simply believing that he is still in hiding at school, although she is aware of a falling out between Suzaku and Lelouch.

Character Abilities you would like to expand on further:
In canon, she has the mundane ability to tell through pulse, skin tremors, tone of voice, etc. if people are lying to her or otherwise concealing information. This skill is augmented the closer her bond with the person, resulting in her final episode moment of practically reliving memories of her brother's intentions throughout canon, allowing her to understand why he'd done everything as Zero and eventually sacrificed himself for world peace.

Another trait of hers is a strong enough willpower to break enchantments and curses - provided she is in a dire situation, meaning it should be a roughly 10% success rate over the course of the entire game. (This is actually a by-product of the Weakness described below, so I recommend reading that part first.) No sooner does Nunnally break her father's 8-year-old Geass on her eyesight than she succumbs to her brother's Geass that commands her to hand over what she was so desperate to find. It's in no way constant or dependable.

Character Weaknesses you would like to expand on further:
The truth about Nunnally's blindness is that, back when she was 7 years old, she stumbled upon her Mother (Marianne) and Father (Emperor Charles) plotting. Charles then used his Geass power of rewriting memories to make Nunnally believe that she had witnessed her mother's death and that the trauma of her bloody mother falling on top of her caused two things: the weight of the impact broke her legs and damaged her eyes. Charles quite literally made Nunnally forget that she could open her eyelids. (He did this so that she could never have a Geass power used on her to recall those true memories.) A Geass works conditionally; it means that Nunnally has to be convinced that she could see, if she opened her eyes, in order to fight against the Geass. The "curse" is effectively dormant so long as she never wants to force her eyelids open. This means that at the time of Nunnally being pulled into Soul Campaign by BREW, it should not recognize her eyes as being damaged in any way worthy of healing. She's been blind for 8 years; she stopped trying a long time ago.

In canon, she finds herself in a situation that is life or death for a host of people including herself - if she cannot see where this 'key' is, they all will die. The willpower she summons in that moment breaks Charles' Geass power and allows her to see again, but it does not restore her memories or her ability to walk. That is why I leave this condition open for happening in the game, but the situation needs to be equally dire. That is also why I requested BREW to heal her legs, but not her eyes; there's not actually anything for BREW to heal. Her eyes are fine. It's just the matter of opening her eyelids, which no force can do without ripping her skin.

Other than that mess, Nunnally is frankly weak-bodied. Her brother is made fun of in canon all the time for his lack of stamina and strength, so I'm certain she's even worse off after her muscles atrophied for 8 years. Even though she is capable of forgiveness, it is only to those who apologize - or in the case of Euphemia knowing her heart wasn't the kind that would go on a killing spree. Lastly, while is very well educated first as a princess and later at a private academy, she is woefully ignorant of blue-collar matters and still fairly naive at 15 years old of many things.

[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]

What abilities will your character retain in Soul Campaign?
Nunnally will retain her mundane lie-detecting and willpower as described above. I will always ask the other player for permission if I want Nunnally to use either skill. I could also keep track of in which situations she gets to use it, then give it a minimum one-week cool-down period, even if new situations arise in which she realistically would want her willpower to activate.

What weaknesses will your character lose or gain in Soul Campaign?
Nunnally will regain the ability to walk, but not realize it at first. When she does start walking again, she will look very much like a newborn deer bobbling around for at least a few days in-game, if not longer. She will remain weak-bodied until she starts training, but will never have the endurance or strength of many shounen hero-types in the game. At best she can become average.

As addressed above, Nunnally will remain blind until such a time as she is able to break the curse on her eyes and memory.

The wish Death the Kid made to the BREW in 2009 was to "rescue Death City and stop the waves of Madness from overtaking the world." By whatever means necessary. Pretend you are the BREW. Why would you choose to bring this character to Death City?
First Season Nunnally was a coddled, handicapped princess, pure as snow and moe as kittens. In the Second Season, Nunnally has learned to stand up for herself and for others, to use her own weaknesses as her strength, and to keep looking for options where others perceive none. She has become as tactically-minded as her brother, and even unwittingly matches his plans to bring peace through self-sacrifice. While most people depend on their eyes to perceive the world, she listens to what people say in order to better understand their motivations - not to mention her mundane lie-detecting prowess. She is a good compliment to those who act on superficial reasons to declare enemies vs. allies, attacking vs. defending, etc. She wields hope for success and grace in foreseeable defeat, followed promptly by seeking allies to help her win out in the end.

If your character has difficulty verbally communicating or can't verbally communicate at all (mute or non-humanoid), elaborate on how this will be treated in the game. Skipped~

[ MEISTER ONLY SECTION ]

Why is your character a Meister and not a Weapon?
To be fair, Nunnally attacking anyone is a stretch of the imagination. However, Nunnally was canonically on a path of gaining independence in the Second Season of canon. With her renewed ability to walk thanks to BREW, I wanted her to be able to start off being utterly terrible at something and get better with the help of someone else - her Weapon, her partner. She is not a pillar of offensive strength; she is a tactician and a firm believer in talking first if at all possible. Yet, she summons the willpower in the Second Season to serve in an administrative capacity - to act on behalf of someone else, instead of having others serve her needs. That change in heart is why I think she is better suited to be a Meister.

She will need to depend on that person for sure - at first she will even try to defer to them when it comes to where to move, when to strike, and so forth. However, Nunnally operates at her best when someone else's life is on the line and if she doesn't improve then her Weapon is the one who will get hurt first, which will drive her to make independent decisions that benefit them both. I hope that her Weapon will be someone patient enough to work with her, earn her respect and trust, and even become friends with her - so that she is as invested in their life as they are in hers. I foresee her getting desperate enough to see the battlefield at some point - in order to save her Weapon from pain or death - that she will finally break the curse on her eyes, enabling her to see again.

What is your character's Meister Ability? Why?
Option 1 - Soul Empathy (New Power)
This ability plays up what is considered a mundane skill of Nunnally's in canon - touching someone to understand their true motivations and feelings, such as if they're lying to her. While the Meister Ability will always be accurate, her perception of what it means will vary based on how well she knows the person or item.
When touching a person, whatever is important to them (or about them) will be conveyed to the Meister. Superficial emotions are accessible, but only on a basic level to begin with. One star Meisters will be able to read basic thoughts and emotions, such as whether a person is lying or not, but they will be unable to tell the reason behind it. Once the Meister reaches two star level, they will be able catch glimpses of the depths the individual person's emotions go along with surface thoughts and can begin to understand them. Three star Meisters will be able to relive actual memories relevant to the present emotional state of their Weapon, and with training, other individuals as well provided that the Meister has player permission.

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Describe your character's soul with six adjectives.
Resolved, Optimistic, Amicable, Faithful, Selfless, Decorous

What does your character's soul look like? Be creative.
Normally, Nunnally's soul looks like this. It has her bangs and tie-back braid in a royal pink shade, but the big thing is that her eyes are never fully opened; they're either both squinting or only one is open halfway. When she is using her Meister ability or Resonating, that is when her soul's eyes open fully.

[ SAMPLES ]

Provide a First Person style sample in the form of a post to the DEMISE network.
[[OOC: Nunally makes speeches in canon over video feeds, so she wouldn't think to convert the Communicator to voice-only.]]

Good afternoon, everyone - how are you all faring? My name is Nunnally Vi Britannia, Viceroy of Area 11, now the Specially Administrated Zone. Like you, I envision a day without war - a gentler world to live in. To that end, I seek to help bring peace to this region until such a time as I am able to return to the S-A-Z.

If it is not inconvenient for you, I would appreciate some descriptions of this building where I now find myself. I will trouble you no more after that and learn my own way around.

[She bows her head to the screen.] My kind regards to all.

Provide a Third Person sample set during the last minutes on their world and/or their first few moments in the Kishin Chamber.
For awhile Nunnally had no sense of her body settling; she knew that FLEIA had been activated and they were fleeing the battle, but that was it. Then she dropped to the ground, hands on a cold floor. She touched all around her, but couldn't find her chair.

It was at that point she heard monitors flicker to life and turned her head to listen better. A man was speaking, telling her to remain calm, because they were in the middle of a war. She listened politely, not interrupting him as he explained that she may have lost any weapons or powers when arriving there, because she certainly had neither. Other people were talking over top of him now, so she had to strain to hear what else he said.

He brought up new skills she may have and gasped audibly. She leaned over a little further, scooting along the floor. She spoke softly aloud to herself. "That's terrible to hear they're in a war situation - it must be spreading throughout the world now. I want it to stop more than anything - but I would be better served negotiating a peace treaty or rewriting a public speech."

All she could think to do was call out, as rude as it was. "Excuse me! Mr. Death Scythe? Pardon me for interrupting, but weapons and wielders - I have never done such a thing to anyone!" She clasped her hands together at her chest. "Fighting will not solve the problems of your people - nor am I capable of it, as you can see."

But her choices were either civilian or fighter, according to him, because accommodations could be made either way. She doubted he even heard her from the sound of things; she realized that perhaps her voice was simply too soft to be heard over everyone else.

"Accommodations? Meaning-?"

Suddenly the other voices got louder, each trying to be heard over everyone else, and she could tell the people were all moving around too. The echoes were rebounding everywhere; she couldn't get her bearings even a little bit. She clasped her hands over her ears, furrowing her brow tightly. She kept muttering to herself. "War everywhere and now- What happened with the FLEIA? What happened to Japan? Oh Big Brother, what would you have me do?" She was so distracted that she didn't even notice people's footwear brushing past her legs beneath her dress - that she could feel it for the first time in 8 years.

She reached out tentatively, hoping that someone wouldn't be walking too fast and hurt her hand as a result. Even raising her voice above her usual speaking tone, she was only barely at conversational level - nowhere close to yelling so someone could hear her. "Please, isn't my wheelchair anywhere... Please! ... Someone?"

[ NOTES ]
How Nunnally will get around Soul Campaign - at first she will likely still require a wheelchair or crutches in order to get around, even after realizing she can walk again. It will take a little while for her muscles to build up again, at least. After that, she will still walk tentatively wherever she goes and probably never run except in a training center, where she is comfortably confined to one spot.

Regardless, she will use her hands - or a walking stick if someone suggests it - and her sense of hearing to build up a mental map of this new environment. Whenever she gets to a new location, she will have to call out to someone for help in describing where she is and where she can move to. If no one is around or refuses to answer her, it'll just be a lot of bumping around.

Also: Thank you Yukeh! :D
